Holmes & Hills Solicitors Strengthens Marks Tey Headquarters with strategic Office Expansion

Holmes & Hills Solicitors has strengthened its Marks Tey headquarters with a significant investment in a second office building, marking the next phase of the firm’s continued regional growth.

Located adjacent to the firm’s head office in Marks Tey, Colchester, the newly opened premises expand capacity for its specialist Residential Property, Family, and Private Client departments.

This investment follows a period of accelerated growth for the firm, which surpassed the 200 employee milestone in 2024. Since May 2022, headcount has increased by 44%, with total staff numbers expected to exceed 230 once current vacancies are filled.

Recruitment is ongoing across several practice areas, including Contentious Probate, Shared Ownership, Corporate and Commercial, Construction, Commercial Property, and Family Law, reflecting continued demand for specialist legal expertise. The firm has also recently strengthened its senior team with the addition of a Commercial Director, supporting further development and growth.

The expansion of the new office reflects a continued focus on organic growth within the local region, underpinned by strategic investment in people and infrastructure. In recent years, the firm has refurbished its Sudbury, Coggeshall and Braintree offices and established its Witham branch, further strengthening its presence across Essex and Suffolk.

Commenting on the expansion, Managing Partners, Rebecca Mason and Steven Hopkins said:

“Our continued investment in Marks Tey reflects both the scale of our recent growth and our long-term commitment to the region. While Marks Tey has traditionally been the centre of our commercial practice, the expansion now also positions it as a key base for our Residential Property, Family and Private Client teams. This strengthens our headquarters as a full service hub, allowing us to support both commercial and private clients from a single, consolidated base as we continue to grow.”

Holmes and Hills Solicitors is continuing to recruit and expand its Departments and Divisions, with many roles currently being advertised. This includes recruitment for Holmes & Hills’ 2026 Summer Vacation Scheme for trainee solicitors looking to start in 2027 or 2028.
