Employment LAw Solicitor
Work in partnership with SME employers and senior employees across East Anglia

The Employment Solicitor role

We are looking for an Employment Law solicitor to support the strategic growth of Holmes & Hills’ Employment Law service offering alongside and in partnership with the firm’s existing Employment Law specialist.

The successful candidate will advise employers and employees across East Anglia on the full spectrum of Employment Law matters including contentious and non-contentious work. Where advising employers, your advice and counsel will be strategic, pragmatic and proactive, covering issues such as disciplinary, redundancy, TUPE, contracts and policy, as well as settlement agreements. In servicing employees, you will be approachable, personable and empathetic in your delivery of advice and representation to both senior and junior level employees.

The role provides you with the opportunity to manage and utilise our existing client and professional contact relationships but you will also work in partnership with the firm’s other Employment Law specialist to build the firm’s reputation as a supplier of specialist Employment Law advice within the regional marketplace.

You will have a proven track record in delivering expert legal advice and high service levels to clients, whilst managing your own caseload, under minimal supervision. As the firm continues to grow, the successful candidate will be keen to build their personal reputation as an Employment Law specialist in the region, alongside that of the firm.

What experience do I need?

This role will suit a self-starter who is looking for a new challenge and the opportunity to play a key role in significantly developing an important strategic service area for the business. You should have the ability to manage your own caseload but there is an experienced team member who you will be able to learn from and who will provide support.

This role will therefore suit an experienced (4+ PQE)  Employment Law solicitor who is looking for the opportunity to grow and develop their career.

What skills should I have?

  • Strong communication skills
  • Self-motivated
  • Commercially aware
  • Proactive thinker
  • Enjoy networking and building relationships

What are we offering?

A competitive salary, as well as a modern and agile working environment at the firm’s brand new regional head office, the A12 Commercial Hub, at Marks Tey, Colchester. The A12 commercial Hub offers colleagues free parking, agile working space, and easy access by road (being based on J25 of the A12) or train (500m from Marks Tey train station). You will be based alongside Holmes & Hills’ other Employment Law specialist and wider Litigation Department who are also based at the A12 Commercial Hub.
