Solicitor, Team Leader – New Build

The prime role of the Team Leader – New Build is to support the Head of New Build & Shared Ownership with the day to day running of the team.  In this fast-paced conveyancing department which specialises in new build and shared ownership transactions you will be operationally focused, undertaking continuous review of how the New Build Team operates to implement processes to help reduce risk and help with efficiencies.

The day to day

  • Supervision of junior fee earners and support staff including; monthly file reviews; quarterly supervision reviews and helping with any queries they may have on their own transactions
  • Monitor file progression and capacity within the team
  • Monitor processes ( including maintaining precedent documents) within the team and where appropriate implement procedures to help reduce risk and/or create efficiencies
  • Support the Head of the team with one to ones and team meetings and putting forward the agenda
  • Identify learning needs of the junior fee earners and support staff working with HR to identify how training can be provided.
  • Carry out conveyancing transactions (files reduced to accommodate Team Leader activities) including :
  • Drafting and approval of documents e.g. contracts, transfers and ancillary
  • Acquisition and disposal of freehold and leasehold property for New Build
  • Preparing residential development site documentation (for use in plot sales)
  • Oversee team members dealing with financial arrangements related to property acquisitions on behalf of buyer / lender  including mortgage arrangements, Help to Buy and Gifts
  • To create and manage correspondence and document files for each individual client matter according to the standards laid down by the firm and other governing bodies
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients and with other professional contacts
  • Promotion and marketing of team

What experience do I need?

To be successful in this role you should have around 5 years PQE within Conveyancing and preferably sometime within New Build and be confident in managing a busy caseload.  Be able to demonstrate previous supervising/management experience.  An understanding of Shared Ownership would be helpful.
