When it comes to divorce, information is power

If you have accurate information with regard to the law and the options available to you – you can then decide how you wish to proceed.

In our experience, clients receive advice from all sorts of people and places. Sometimes the advice is very good, other times it is incorrect, however, well meaning. Each case is different and the advice appropriate in someone else’s case may not be appropriate in your case.

Take some time at this stage just to get some sensible accurate advice.  This may be the best time and money you have invested.  At Holmes & Hills Solicitors we can advise you about the law, the options available to you, some of which you may have not even considered or thought were unavailable to you.

Making an application to the Court is always a last resort.  Our specialistcan assist you in negotiation.  If you have the necessary information you may find that you can negotiate directly with your spouse and resolve matters directly, clearly saving time and money.  If you have any queries or concerns you can always come back to us.  If negotiations with your spouse are difficult, we can negotiate on an amicable basis on your behalf.  Our objective is always to try to resolve matters as amicably as possible which usually means that matters are resolved more quickly and cheaply.

If you are able to work things out we can help you tie up any agreement into a legally binding Order to avoid problems in the future.

If you and your spouse have a very amicable relationship and know exactly what you are going to do, instructing solicitors to tie up that agreement into a legally binding agreement can avoid all sorts of problems in the future.  Relationships change, third parties become involved and this can affect your relationship with your spouse.  If you had your agreement incorporated into a legally binding Order you will avoid the problems that can be caused if one party changes their mind.

Our solicitors may suggest other options available to you such as mediation or counselling for example.

If we are unable to negotiate and reach an agreement on your behalf and making an application to the Court is necessary we can support you through that whole process.  Some clients to have full legal support others like assistance as and when required and undertake some of the work themselves.  We will help you as you need us.

Our specialist family lawyers deal with relationship breakdowns on a daily basis.  Let our Family Team assist you.

It is also very important that you have complete trust in your solicitor and have a good  relationship with them.  Come in for an initial consultation for a fixed-fee.This meeting is usually at least one hour long to give a solicitor enough time to meet with you, understand your circumstances and provide you with the advice you require enabling you to make an informed decision.
