Holmes & Hills recognised as a leading firm of solicitors in the region

Holmes & Hills Solicitors has been recognised by two independent directories of the UK’s top law firms as being a leading source of expert legal advice across East Anglia and the South East.

Every year, publishers of The Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners directories undertake extensive research into the legal sector and law firms across the country, interviewing law firms, clients and other third parties to establish a list of the best legal service providers across various areas of the law.

The results of this research have recently been published and Holmes & Hills has once again been recognised by both of these directories as a leading source of legal advice in the region. The Legal 500 has recognised the firm as being among the best firms of solicitors is the South East for the supply of legal advice relating to Commercial Property, Personal Injury and Planning Law. Holmes & Hills has now been listed in the directory as a leading firm for four consecutive years. This recognition is supported by Chambers & Partners listing Holmes & Hills’ highly regarded Planning & Development Team as being one of the best in East Anglia, for the second consecutive year.

In ranking Holmes & Hills’ Planning & Development Team as one of the best teams of Planning Law advisors in the region, The Legal 500 stated:

“department head David Whipps and Steven Hopkins are the partner-level contacts in an exceptionally large and experienced team, which also includes Tom McPhie and Jo Lilliott, the latter singled out for her ‘exceptional knowledge of s.106 agreements, community infrastructure levies and highways law’.”

As well as being recognised as a leading law firm by these prestigious publications, Holmes & Hills is also listed by Planning Magazine – a leading industry magazine – as having one of the best teams of specialist Planning Law solicitors in the UK, alongside international law firms.

Commenting on the latest recognition from The Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners directories, David Whipps, Head of the firm’s Planning & Development Team, said:

“We are very pleased to receive this recognition, but more so knowing that these rankings are based on the results of thorough research into Holmes & Hills and its competitors. These recent announcements provide our clients with the reassurance that the advice and representation they receive from us is independently recognised as being of the best available in the marketplace. This combined with a competitive fee structure and our lawyers’ commercial, pragmatic approach to addressing clients’ needs, has facilitated growth for the firm, as well as supported a growing reputation across the region.”

In commenting on Holmes & Hills’ team of Planning Law specialists, Chambers & Partners stated the team is a:

“Highly regarded specialist planning team acting for a range of clients including local authorities and developers as well as private individuals. Provides expert advice on planning enforcement matters in addition to Section 106 agreements.”

Commenting on the Head of the team specialist Planning Law solicitor, David Whipps, researchers at Chambers & Partners say:

“David Whipps is a strong advocate and successfully advises clients on all areas of planning. ‘He’s got all the qualities you would need in a good practical planning lawyer’, states one source; ‘good common sense, sound working knowledge of the law, a good insight into clients and an approachable manner.’”
