Holmes & Hills Solicitors Hosts Honywood School Learners for Work Experience

Holmes & Hills Solicitors were pleased to welcome three learners from Honywood School for a week of work experience, giving them a hands on insight into life at a busy law firm.

As part of the firm's ongoing commitment to supporting its local communities and investing in the next generation, the learners rotated through a range of departments, including Family Law, Clinical Negligence, Marketing, HR and Private Client. They took part in practical activities, assisted with real projects, observed meetings and experienced first-hand the variety of careers within the legal profession.

The learners quickly became part of the Holmes & Hills team, bringing enthusiasm and curiosity wherever they went, while colleagues enjoyed sharing their knowledge and experience.

Reflecting on the week, Lois said: "I've had a great time at Holmes & Hills. Everyone has been so nice and helpful, and the projects I've worked on have really widened my knowledge of law. This week has improved my communication, time management and confidence".

Callum added: "Before I arrived, I expected a strict office environment, but everyone was incredibly friendly and welcoming. I've been involved in a variety of tasks across different departments, which has opened my eyes to the many areas of law. It has been a really enjoyable experience".

Archie summed up the week perfectly, saying: "Before I started, I thought I would have been sat at a desk watching people doing their jobs, reading emails and being bored out of my mind. However, it has been quite the opposite! I got to respond to emails, complete tasks that genuinely helped people, listen in on calls and meetings, and even see a Will being signed. Everyone has been so kind and thoughtful. I wish a massive thank you to everyone who gave up their time for me".

Over the course of the summer, Holmes & Hills will welcome a further eight work experience learners across its offices, taking the total to 11. Supporting young people through meaningful work experience opportunities forms part of the firm's ongoing commitment to giving back to the communities it serves.

And, as Archie discovered, life at a leading regional law firm is anything but "being bored out of your mind".
