CHRISSIE PARKEs
Working in partnership with contractors, contract managers and project managers.
WiCA Board Member

Chrissie is an Associate in Holmes & Hills’ Legal 500-recommended Construction Department. She advises contractors, subcontractors, contract managers, project managers and construction professionals on contentious and non-contentious matters arising throughout the lifecycle of construction projects.

A significant part of Chrissie’s practice involves construction adjudication and payment disputes. She regularly advises clients on bringing and defending adjudication claims and, where an adjudicator’s decision is not honoured, enforcement proceedings in the Technology and Construction Court.

Chrissie advises clients in relation to:

  • Construction adjudications
  • Adjudication enforcement proceedings
  • Payment, valuation and final account disputes
  • Delay, extensions of time and loss and expense
  • Defects and practical completion
  • Suspension and termination

Chrissie has successfully led numerous adjudications and enforcement proceedings, recovering substantial sums for clients. Her recent experience includes acting for Westgreen Construction Limited in successful Technology and Construction Court proceedings to enforce an adjudicator’s decision for £650,000, together with VAT, the adjudicator’s fees and interest.

She has also acted in a successful £168,000 adjudication for a specialist scaffolding contractor. The dispute concerned non-payment and a complex question of contract formation which determined whether the main contractor was entitled to rely on a substantial set-off.

Chrissie is known for practical and commercially focused advice. She considers the wider objective behind a dispute, including the prospects of recovery, the parties’ continuing relationship and whether adjudication can be used to bring about a negotiated resolution.

Her understanding of the commercial realities facing contractors is strengthened by her ongoing secondment to a large contractor. Chrissie attends the client’s office each month to provide direct, real-time advice on live and future projects. This gives her first-hand insight into the contractual, payment and operational pressures experienced by construction businesses.

Although Chrissie’s practice is primarily contentious, she also drafts and reviews construction contracts and amendments. She advises clients on their contractual risks in clear and accessible language and helps deliver practical construction-law training designed to prevent disputes from arising.

In 2025, Chrissie was named one of the Top 100 Women in Construction by the Construction Industry Training Board, recognising women making a significant impact across the construction sector. In March 2025, Chrissie was invited to sit on the Women in Construction Industry Management Board helping to support and champion women across the construction industry alongside her fellow management board members.

She is also Treasurer of the Constructing Excellence Essex Club, a position she has held since January 2024.

Chrissie is based at Holmes & Hills’ A12 Commercial Hub in Colchester (Marks Tey).
