Senior Solicitor in Planning & Development Team

Jo is a solicitor in our Planning & Development Department, based at Holmes & Hills’ Braintree office. Qualifying as a solicitor in 1985, she joined Holmes & Hills’ specialist Planning & Local Government Department in September 2004 having previously worked for Essex County Council.

Jo specialises in all aspects of planning and highways law, particularly planning obligations and highway works agreements. Jo currently acts for a number of Local Authorities, private landowners and developers in the South East.

Together with her colleagues in the Planning and Development Department Jo can provide a comprehensive service in relation to all aspects of planning and highway matters being fully aware of the commercial needs of developers and the regulatory requirements of Local Authorities. Jo is also recognised by the Legal 500 for her expertise.

As a keen golfer Jo enjoys attending golf days with her colleagues and clients. She also enjoys walking and travelling.

  • Acting for a local authority in concluding a complex S106 Agreement to secure phased development of approximately 1,000 Dwellings and the provision of local community facilities including land and financing for a primary school, affordable housing and a substantial area of open space.
  • Acting for a local authority in concluding a complex S106 Agreement to secure affordable housing provision on a development of approximately 750 dwellings. 
  • Acting for a national developer in the negotiation and drafting of a Planning Obligation stipulating financial contributions towards traffic calming measures, bus services, education and school transport, health facilities and the provision of on-site affordable housing in relation to a planned development.
