Sophie is an associate solicitor in the Legal 500 recommended Construction Department at Holmes & Hills, enhancing the Department’s expertise by supporting construction clients with non-contentious, transactional matters.
As a construction solicitor, Sophie specialises in non-contentious Construction Law, with a particular focus on transactional work for commercial developments nationwide. She advises funders, developers, contractors, and a wide range of project stakeholders across the UK on every stage of the contractual lifecycle of construction and development schemes.
Sophie has significant experience drafting and negotiating construction documentation, such as JCT and NEC forms, professional appointments, collateral warranties and bespoke agreements. Moreover, she regularly advises clients on detailed contract reviews, risk allocation, and the legal structuring of development transactions to ensure projects progress smoothly from procurement through to completion.
Sophie offers commercially grounded advice and adopts a collaborative rather than adversarial approach, helping clients navigate contractual obligations, managing project interfaces, and achieving pragmatic solutions during negotiations. Additionally, Sophie prides herself on her friendly, down-to-earth approach to dealing with her clients. She is adept at translating complicated legal jargon into easier to understand terms, resulting in strong client relationships.
Sophie’s work helps stakeholders deliver technically demanding projects securely, efficiently, and with clarity around legal and commercial risk.
With over 5 years of Construction Law experience across boutique and large multi-disciplinary firms, Sophie expertly tailors her advice to each client’s specific situation and unique needs.
Sophie joined Holmes & Hills in 2026, and is based at Holmes & Hills' A12 Commercial Hub in Colchester (Marks Tey).
